Well, I am just playing with this forum to try and figure it out .

Just some FYI – The Smith and Wesson on the cover of the Winter issue was miss identified. IT IS In FACT a Pre-War S&W Registered Magnum.

So who did this exquisite engraving, and the custom pre-war magna grips?

This is the gun from the cover of the winter issue of Gunmaker. I was very aware of the progress of the gun, I used photos of the gun in the white for the cover and gun gallery photos of issue 193. The engraving is by ACGG professional member Brian Hochstrat. I was informed that the gun was a post war .357 Magnum, which is the information I included in the magazine. As I have corrected above already the gun is in fact a pre-war registered magnum.

I’ll add info about the grip maker later – come back often – here is a photo of the other side.

    best to all

Nice to see this done in a very period style. The engraving and gold inlay are of higher quality and more sophistication than work of that pre-war era. Bryan has kept the theme, layout and animal subjects true to the era and this is obviously an exceptional artistic achievement that should delight anyone familiar with S&W embellishment as well as those who enjoy firearms engraving. I mightadd that the bluing is also juicy.

Having made many pair of S&W grips I’m looking forward to hearing who made these as they are as fine as and era appropriate as the engraving.
